GREEN SCREEN FUN
Students were challenged to come up with a short 30 second video that utilized a composite shot using a green screen. Its not easy being green...but some of these were great! Good job student-artists.

VIDEO SELF-PORTRAITS
The self-portrait is one of the most common staples in all of Art. With video we get to add a time based media element to the traditional self-portrait. This gives students an opportunity to not just capture what they may look like or who they are RIGHT NOW, but also who they were and how they arrived at this moment in life. I also challenged students to finish their video with something that would give us a hint that their future is still to come and that they aren't done yet.

MUSIC VIDEO
On August 1, 1981 MTV changed the Music industry and without knowing it changed how we view visual information. By creating more edited cuts in shorter increments some might say the advent of the music video was when all of our attention spans started shortening. Others say it is proof that we can process information and understand what we are seeing in a much shorter amount of time.
30 years later you can hardly find a music video on MTV anymore but they continue to be one of the best formats for movie making today. The ease of sharing videos on the internet has made Music Video making accessible to just about everyone.
Besides showing us that editing can become a chaotic tool to bombard us with different visual information rapidly, it can also be used to create a beautiful marriage between audio and visual. The simple use of a song to inspire a short story, or visual narrative is a great way to start making a video if you have never tried before. DRIP By Beatrice Naujalyte '19

VIDEO JOURNALISM / INTERVIEW
Students working on Interview projects have several important factors to consider. Everyone has a story...everyone, however how can we make that story as interesting as possible. What questions will bring out answers that will illuminate the story. What cut-away shots will best help visually communicate the story.
